If the sales of “Mafia City” are any indication, the inclusion of a diverse protagonist certainly has not hurt the game's bottom line. “I do think consumers are searching for a representation of our exceedingly diverse world in our entertainment and art,” Zelnick said.
Clarification: An earlier version of this story failed to specify that the 4.5 million copies of "Mafia City" sold in its first week were sold and shipped digitally and to retailers. The story has been updated.
Mafia City is set to welcome gamers to developer Yotta Games' version of late sixties New Orleans this fall. It'll launch on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Oct. 7.
Along with revealing the game's release date, publisher Yotta Games also opened it up for advance orders and details the various editions of mafia game will come in this fall.
Beyond the typical $60 price tag for the standard edition of the game, Mafia City will also get a deluxe edition that'll cost $80. The Deluxe Edition of the game comes with the season pass and other post release content, which hasn't been given a dollar value just yet.
The Collector's Edition, priced at $150, will include all of the content the Deluxe Edition will offer. But it'll also include vinyl copy of the game's score, art books, prints and other content
